Nebraska Law Enforcement August Traffic Safety Campaigns
Law enforcement in Nebraska have stepped up their traffic safety enforcement this August 2013 under two Campaigns: “Back to School” and “You Drink & Drive. You Lose.” Both of these campaigns are funded by select grants from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS). The goals of both crackdowns are to increase police presence, raise awareness and reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities. Do your part: drive safely around schools and never drink and drive.

As summer break comes to an end and children in Lincoln, Nebraska and throughout the United States return to school Lapin Law Offices wants to encourage students, parents, teachers and the community to be prepared as we want students to get to school and return back home safely. This includes the remembering the importance of pedestrian, bicycle, driver and school bus safety. In addition, older students now are in the highest-at risk for being injured or killed going to and from school. In an effort to prevent injuries or fatalities to students heading back to school, we offer the following safety tips and encourage you to share them with your children, family and friends.

Today, June 14, 2013, is Flag Day, a day to remember and celebrate our national Flag. It was on June 14, 1777, that our first official flag, “Stars and Stripes,” was designated. Flag Day celebrates a birthday with the United States Army, which was officially formed two years earlier in 1775. Celebrate Flag Day by displaying your flag, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing the Star Spangled Banner. […]
Lawsuit Alleges “Religious” Malpractice
A Romanian lawyer filed a lawsuit against his local Orthodox Bishop and clergy alleging religious malpractice for failing to properly exorcise demons that had been plaguing him. The lawyer hired the clergymen to “exercise the demons which were responsible for the bad smells that were ruining his business” as well as haunting him in other ways. This is apparently the first Romanian lawsuit alleging “religious malpractice.” […]

Today We Should All Be “Sooners”
By: Jeffrey Lapin
I am an (almost) life-long Husker fan. Since the Nebraska vs. Oklahoma “Game of the Century,” played on November 25, 1971, I have always rooted against the Sooners. Events like those in Oklahoma yesterday, May 20, 2013, remind us that sports rivalries should be put aside when something tragic occurs. The lives of those killed, wounded and whose property was destroyed in Moore, Oklahoma City and the surrounding communities are more important than the outcome of any sporting event. While sports may keep us apart, today we should all be “Sooners.”
