NO AMBER ALERT
A request by Nebraska law enforcement to put up an Amber Alert on I-80’s electronic message boards was denied, in part, because the victim was too old. Amber Alerts are only issued for child abductions in Nebraska and Iowa.
According to a Nebraska Department of Roads spokesperson, they are “very careful about what information they put on those boards.” Iowa has a similar policy, “We do not want the Amber Alert program to get diluted … Children are a special case.”
Fortunately, the victim, Julie Hanes, was released without physical harm.
Do you agree or disagree that the Amber Alert system should only be for children?
